A Toto driver sustained bullet injuries in a shootout between two rival groups in West Bengal’s Malda district on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Aamir Sheikh, was reportedly caught in the crossfire during the confrontation.
According to local sources, the incident created panic in the area, following which the police rushed to the spot. Aamir was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are scanning CCTV footage and questioning locals to identify those involved. A manhunt has been initiated to trace the shooters.
Officials said that the motive behind the clash is yet to be confirmed, but it appears to be a fallout of a long-standing rivalry. Security has been tightened in the area to prevent further escalation.
